Hotel

NWAV50 will be held at the beautiful Signia by Hilton in Downtown San Jose. The hotel is a short walk to San Jose’s restaurant scene, and just across from the Tech Interactive museum. We have reserved a block of rooms at the conference rate of $269/night. Be advised that no reservations at this rate will be permitted after September 26 and that the conference block is nearly fully booked. Please make reservations at this link to use the discount code. If you experience any difficulties reserving your room, please contact Deneice.Fujii@Hilton.com. If you're looking for someone to share a room with, we hope this spreadsheet will help facilitate your search.

Because the conference will feature three full days of programming on Thursday, October 13 and continuing through an evening reception on Saturday, October 15, we suggest that you arrive on Wednesday, October 12 and leave on Sunday, October 16, if possible.

Please see our Travel Awards page for information on graduate student support for travel/lodging and registration.

Transportation

We recommend that you fly into San Jose International Airport (SJC), which is just ten minutes from the conference venue. San Jose is about 45 minutes from the San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

If you fly into San Francisco, there are several ways to get to San Jose. We recommend that you check them out before you leave home:

Taxi
30-45 min, ~$115

Rideshares (Uber, Lyft)
30-45 min, ~$90
Beware of surge pricing during peak traffic.

Shuttle (Monterey Airbus)
65 min, $23
The shuttle runs from SFO to SJC every 1-2 hours, depending on time of day.

BART and CalTrain
15-20 min on BART, $4.95; 60-70 min on CalTrain, $9.95
First take BART from SFO to the Millbrae CalTrain station. Then take the CalTrain from Millbrae to San Jose Didion. Trains run every 15-30 minutes, depending on time of day. The hotel is a 20-minute walk or short ride from Didion. You will need to buy a Clipper Card to use on BART and CalTrain. You can buy the card online or from a machine at the airport.
